James and Debbie met at the University of Arkansas and were married in 1991 before relocating to New Jersey for business opportunities and to start a family.  James spent the next 20 years working in the transportation industry, managing and leading companies at the executive board level.  Debbie used her degree as a stay at home mother with a focus on homeschooling their four children.  In 1998, medical and personal crises reignited their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and they became active members in a local church.  James served on the Elder Board and Debbie played an active role in the prayer ministry.  By 2011, the Lord brought the family to Palm Coast, FL and to Church on The Rock.  James was called to the Elder Board in 2013, and Debbie continued her focus on homeschooling and prayer.  On January 1, 2017, James and Debbie were ordained as Senior Pastors of Church on The Rock and are continuing on with the vision of transforming Flagler County and building upon the foundation established by the founding pastors. In April of 2017, James and Debbie were ordained by NEI (Network Ekklesia International) under Dutch Sheets and Ken Malone. In 2023, the facility name was changed to The Rock Transformation Center to reflect the Operational Purpose of the building and ministries that are a part of The Transformation Center.

The Rock is made up of all different types of people from all different walks of life that share a common faith and love for Christ. Our faith in Him brings us together as the Body of Christ. We worship together, share life together, minister together, and grow together.

Established in 1993, The Rock has been progressing toward the realization of “Our Vision” as a church body and the transformation of Flagler County and beyond.

Founders:  Bruce and Marlene Laurent

Pastor Bruce committed his life to the Lord in 1986 after being miraculously delivered from drugs and alcohol. Bruce received his licensing and ordination credentials from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in May of 1992, and graduated from Luther Rice Seminary with a B.A. in Biblical Studies in January 1993. In October 1993, Bruce and his wife Marlene began Church on The Rock in Flagler County. In 1998, Marlene was ordained through Church on The Rock to assist her husband Bruce in the work of the ministry. Together they have ministered to the local body as well as to the county through the Jail Chaplaincy and numerous outreach ministries.

In 2013, Bruce and Marlene were ordained by NEI (Network Ekklesia International) under Dutch Sheets and Ken Malone. As Jewish believers in Jesus, Bruce and Marlene’s greatest passion is to teach and inform the body of Christ of their Jewish roots and the significance of the Feasts of The Lord. After transitioning out of the role of Senior Pastors, they have been commissioned to carry out this calling through God’s Original Plan Ministries.       Roman’s 11:13-14
